CDL Admission Requirements
招生 requirements for entry into the Wallace 社区学院 CDL Truck Driving training course are (1) be at least 18 years of age* for a Class A or B license, (2) must be an Alabama resident or employed at an Alabama based company, (3) possess a good driving record and, (4) be able to successfully pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and a DOT controlled substance test (chain of custody drug screen).
The following documents are required before you begin training:

- Commercial Learner’s Permit (A or B)
- 3-year Motor Vehicle Report
- DOT Physical long form with Medical Card
- Chain of Custody Drug Screen Results (Wallace 社区学院 will provide perspective student with a DOT Drug Test Release of Results form).
The student will be responsible for paying to schedule their Class A or B CDL road test ($22.00).
Note: The long form physical, chain of custody drug screen, and motor vehicle report (MVR) must be dated within 30 days of the first scheduled class day.

*Effective February 7, 2020, Alabama allows individuals ages 18-20 to apply for a Class A CDL:
- No hazmat or passenger endorsements
- Prohibited from operating oversize or specially configured loads requiring a permit from ALDOT.
- Limited to commercial driving within the State of Alabama only (intrastate)
ALABAMA CDL REQUIREMENTS:
In order to drive a commercial vehicle in Alabama, you must first obtain an Alabama commercial driver’s license (CDL). While classes of CDL licenses can vary from state to state, Alabama classifies commercial vehicles that require a CDL to drive as follows:
- 甲级: Operate vehicles weighing more than 26,001 pounds that tow trailers or other vehicles weighing over 10,000磅.
- 乙级: Operate vehicles weighing more than 26,001 pounds and tow trailers or vehicles that weigh less than 10,000磅.
